Still in Bergerac

We are still enjoying Bergerac the old town and its history has stolen our hearts. The nights are cold, but during the day the temperature rises to 28 degrees.

Today we just wandered around marveling at the ancient houses. We visited the Tobacco Museum, the only museum of this kind in France.

The museum was founded in 1950 and reorganized in 1982. In a 17th century mansion it is a fine example of Bergerac’s heritage. It’s collection traces the history of the tobacco plant from the beginning of the cultivation to the history of European uses. There is also a room dedicated to the pipe-making craftsmanship.

Seguimos disfrutando de Bergerac, el casco antiguo y su historia nos ha robado el corazón. Las noches son frías, pero durante el día la temperatura sube a 28 grados.

Hoy simplemente paseamos maravillándonos de las casas antiguas. Visitamos el Museo del Tabaco, el único museo de este tipo en Francia.

El museo fue fundado en 1950 y reorganizado en 1982. Ubicado en una mansión del siglo XVII, es un excelente ejemplo del patrimonio de Bergerac. Su colección recorre la historia de la planta del tabaco desde el inicio de su cultivo hasta la historia de sus usos europeos. También hay una sala dedicada a la artesanía de la pipa.

We genieten nog steeds van Bergerac. De oude stad en haar geschiedenis heeft ons hart gestolen. De nachten zijn koud, maar overdag loopt de temperatuur op tot 28 graden.

Vandaag liepen we gewoon rond en verwonderden we ons over de oude huizen. We bezochten het Tabaksmuseum, het enige museum van dit type in Frankrijk.

Het museum werd opgericht in 1950 en gereorganiseerd in 1982. Gesitueerd in een 17e-eeuws herenhuis,een mooi voorbeeld van het erfgoed van Bergerac. De collectie volgt de geschiedenis van de tabaksplant vanaf het begin van de teelt in de oudheid, tot de geschiedenis van het Europese gebruik. Er is ook een ruimte gewijd aan het vakmanschap van het pijpenmaken.
