Dear John,
Great that you will be at the airport and what a lovely idea to meet you on your birthday, this is really something to celebrate. This is also very special to me because I didn’t have any connections with anyone from those days and now just because of one e-mail message I have heaps of people that we will meet after all those years. And more special, Ruud, my husband, gets to know more about the years I spent In Australia so very long ago.
What a coincidence that your friend is from Naracoorte. Our friend is a lovely lady that we met on our first trip “Down Under”. We stayed with her for a couple of days in 2007 and in that same year she came to visit us and together we spent a couple of weeks touring Europe in search of her ancestors who came from Germany. In 2008 we went together to Alice Springs and back and now for the third time we see each other again. Her name is Irene Ireland.
I will place a photo of us on the site, so that you will know what my ‘mate’ and my husband looks like. Do you have any photos of yourself from those days so that I can see if I recognize you! I don’t know who the guy in the picture is I always remembered him as Tonny ? … I will email Gerrit de Vries about the farm day and place the info on the site.
