Woke up this morning and took a look outside the window of our room, there’s just nothing. A hotel chucked in the middle of nowhere.
The whole complex is a bit like Disney world, but it’s wonderful.
Little birds fluttering around in the trees just in front of the room and a desert as a garden just a red paradise.
Saw the sunset at Uluru the photo’s will tell a better story than I could ever do, the Red Centre is marvellous. We’re off to the Olgas or Kata Tjuta, the aboriginal name, later on in the day but first what have we been doing up till now.
From Coober Pedy we went to Alice Springs and took a Hop on, Hop off tour, Rick, our driver showed us all the highlights. From the Royal Flying Doctors Service to the Reptile Centre and then to the School of the Air, a Bush Bar-B-Q to complete the day.
The next day we asked the lady at the reception if there was a nice place where we could buy some aboriginal art and she told us that there was a place where we could see the artists at work. It was a cultural learning centre where we met some lovely people who told us the meaning of the paintings and a lot about their lives and families. It was all very interesting.
In the afternoon we went to visit the camel farm even had a ride on a camel and to Emily Gap. In the evening a Red Centre Dreamland Dinner with traditional song and dance.

Ik was vroeg wakker vanochtend en ben buiten op een bankje gaan zitten, genietend van de vroege ochtend als alles nog stil is. Dat was het met recht, een oase midden in de woestijn, doet een beetje Disney-achtig aan, maar wonderbaarlijk mooi. Kleine vogeltjes fladderen in het rond, een woestijn als tuin, een rood paradijs een ander woord kan ik er niet voor vinden.
Gisteravond de zon onder zien gaan in Uluru, voorheen Ayers Rock, het is onbeschrijfelijk mooi hoe die rots van minuut tot minuut van kleur veranderd, de foto’s spreken voor zich. We gaan vandaag de Olgas bekijken, of zoals de Aborigines ze noemen, Katja Tjuta. Maar wat hebben we zoal gedaan.
Van Coober Pedy zijn we naar Alice Springs gereden waar we als eerste met de Hop on, Hop off bus de stad hebben bekeken. Rick, onze chauffeur gaf ons een Grand Tour.
Van de Flying Doctors naar het Reptiel Centrum en daarna de School of the Air. Om de dag af te sluiten een Bush Bar-B-Q in the middel of nowhere.
De volgende dag aan de receptie van het hotel gevraagd waar we wat Aboriginal Art konden kopen, geen toeristen spul. Ze stuurde ons naar het cultureel centrumwaar we artiesten echt aan het werk zagen. We hebben daar een hele aantal leuke mensen gesproken die ons vertelde over hun leven en hun families. Al met al een leerzame ochtend doorgebracht en twee mooie schilderijen gekocht voor thuis.
