Off to the Marrabel Rodeo, just one word to describe the day FABULOUS. For lunch a huge hamburger and by four o’clock the jet lag caught up with us and we decided to go to the Burra Hotel in Burra. Lovely little town with a great Heritage centre.
At the hotel we had a lovely meal together with Irene’s nephew, Wayne and his wife Cheryl their son Jarret and baby girl, Zoë. Wayne and his wife invited us to their place for breakfast, bacon and eggs the Aussie way. The jet lag was really getting to us by then so we called it a night, both of us were falling asleep at the table.
The next day we made our way to Wayne’s house, it was a really super breakfast, lots and lots of bacon. After breakfast Wayne gave us a Grand Tour of Burra, a beautifully restored miners town. We had a long journey ahead of us, so goodbye Wayne and Cheryl, thank you again for your hospitality and we hope to see you again someday.
By 10.30 we were on the road again to Coober Pedy. We took a long time getting there, lovely road to drive and the scenery was beaut, changing quite quickly from green crops country into dry red country. Saw lots of emu’s, a few sheep and a kangaroo at the side of the road. Ruud took over the wheel, by then it was getting dark very quickly and we still had some miles to cover when all of a sudden a big roo crossed the road in front of the car, luckily we missed him, thanks to Ruud’s quick reaction. Ten passed eight we drove into Coober Pedy, checked into the hotel and then off to John’s Pizza Place where Irene and I had fish and chips and Ruud a huge T-Bone steak. Tomorrow off to Alice Springs.
