25 jaar geleden zeiden we tegen elkaar: “Ik wil” en begonnen we aan een reis zonder einde. Het is soms een Rocky Road geweest, maar altijd met zonneschijn en een heldere hemel in het vooruitzicht.

Nu vieren we dat onze liefde is gegroeid en dat we nog steeds aan het rondtrekken zijn, nieuwe plekken ontdekken en nieuwe vrienden ontmoeten.

De afgelopen week was vol opwinding en wederom onverwachte veranderingen.

Onze hospita begon midden in het toeristenseizoen met de verkoop van ons appartement, en nu het toerisme na de Covid-jaren weer op volle kracht terugkeerde, moesten we een andere plek zoeken om te wonen. Binnen een week knipoogde “Lady Luck” met de ogen en vonden we een nieuw appartement in hetzelfde complex. Op 18 juli, onze trouwdag, tekenden we het contract en uiteindelijk waren we op weg naar het eerste deel van onze (3e) huwelijksreis naar het prachtige hotel Miramar in Malága.

Deze twee dagen waren meer dan ik ooit had verwacht.

De eerste verrassing was dat toen ik op de ochtend van de 18e uit de douche kwam en mijn bed versierd was met twee harten en op mijn kussen een prachtige set oorbellen, ketting en armband.

Maar opnieuw was er nog een verrassing. We waren aan het ontspannen aan de zwembadbar met een hapje en een drankje, toen Rudolph zei: “Kom op, we moeten om 19.15 uur klaar zijn voor mijn laatste verrassing!”.

Dit was boven alle verwachtingen.

We liepen door de lobby en opeens zag ik Pila, de dame van de juwelierszaak in Arroyo, naar ons toe lopen. Ik wist nog steeds niet wat mij te wachten stond.

These two days were more than I had ever expected.

First surprise was when I came out of the shower on the morning of the 18th my bed was decorated with two hearts and on my pillow a beautiful set of earrings, necklace and a bracelet.

Then, in the hotel, Champagne in the cooler and agin the bed decorated with two (towel) swans and real red rose petals and to top it all, dinner in the garden restaurant.

The next day back to Arroyo for the ‘antigen tests’, thank heaven they were negative. Now just one more day to go before we set sail.

But again there was another surprise. We were relaxing at the poolbar having a bite and a drink, when Rudolph said, “ Come on we have to be ready for my final surprise by 19:15!”.

We were walking in the lobby and all of a sudden I saw Pila, the lady who owns the jewellery store in Arroyo, walking towards us. I still did not know what was in store for me.

I said, “What a surprise meeting you here”. She just laughed and said she was a professional Photographer and was asked by Rudolph to make photos of you both”.
