This last entry is a bit late, but better late than never. Everything was packed and ready to go, suitcases piling out with souvenirs and books goodbyes to the lovely couple that run the hostel. The young lady was really a super lady, friendly, never too busy for a chat. A really nice place to stay, thanks guys, for a great time.
The plane was leaving in the afternoon so we decided to go to the Katrina Museum. The day that we planned it, it was closed and as Katrina played such a great part of the Metropolitan America course it couldn’t be left out.
It was an awesome experience, as we entered we were confronted with the piano of ‘Fats’ Domino, yes, celebrity or not, Katrina devastated everyone and everything. It was an emotional experience for each of us, just sitting there listening and watching the disaster, retold by those that went through it all.
Thanks Professor Janssens and Mr. Belien for guiding us through the town and the ‘living’ history lessons during the week.
New Orleans has been a great experience for all of us.
