Tomorrow we'll take a two day stop in Melbourne and then off to Balarat to see the Goldminers history and the lightshow 'Blood on the Southern Cross'. Especially for you John we expect to be in Narracoorte after the weekend. We're looking forward to meeting you and Irene and the rest of your family.

David And Margaret:
G'day!
It must be wonderful for you seeing home again, but also sad at the same time to see that the changes made to your city has changed the memory of your youth in Melbourne. Just to let you guys know, I am starting work in the Cave de Tain, in the sales reception dealing with international clients, this is meant to take off on Thursday, just so you know, you have a friend in the wine industry with probable reductions!! ;-) speak soon! It was so nice to just read the subject: Melbourne after 40 years, of the email notifying me that you had put a message here, Marion.
I had a little smile at the screen.
Surely you've heard some Dutch being spoken, in the Dandenongs! I KNOW that there are still many Dutch-Australians there.
I think I told you, my daughter loved the shopping, restaurants and theatres, in Melbourne, when she went there quite a few years ago, with Kelly from next-door.
Grandview Grove IS listed, in Google but possibly there are more than one. I guess.
Have fun! -

To my little brother,
Nice to write in English to you again after so many years. The search goes on. Actually we did find a Grandvieuw Grove but it was in Warrendyte, just a mile or two up the road. We went all the way downhill, right into the bush but it wasn't the road we were looking for after all. We enden up in the bush and it took us a lot of time to get up the hill again. There was hardly any space to turn around, Ruud had to realy do a great bit of backing up and turning on the spot. With spinning wheels and a wet back he did the job. Now he can say he,s a bush driver, but once was enough for me. -

Robin (Rob) Carter:
I think I have some good news for you regarding your old stamping grounds at Warranwood.
Just by chance following a recent impromptu reunion and walking tour last Friday (11May'12) by a small number of 50s-60s kids, (myself, Joan Davies, Con & Leita (Eve) Poulianakis), Joan came across this site of yours and emailed me today as she thought me being on facebook would be a way to contact you. But I decided to try this space first so hope it gets to you okay.
The main barrier preventing you from finding Grandview Grove is that the street name was changed some time in the sixties to Bemboka Road. If you can go to Google Maps and do a search for 27 Bemboka Road Warranwood, it'll take you to a "Street View" view of Poulianiakis's house - one of the few remaining houses from our era. Sadly but typically, suburbia caught up with "our" Warranwood from the late '70's.
All our families have since moved out of the area. I take it from this site that you were visiting from The Netherlands a few years back so it's sad you weren't able to find the area but I hope the above info helps a bit.
Meanwhile, Joan and I would love it if you could take down our email addresses and keep in contact.

Hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes,
